How do you Know When an Avocado is Ripe?

Stop guessingthere’s a simple trick! Instead of squeezing the fruit, gently remove the small stem cap and look at the color underneath.

Yellow beneath the stem: The avocado isn’t ripe yet and needs more time to soften.

Green beneath the stem: It’s perfectly ripe ideal for slicing, mashing, or making guacamole.

Brown beneath the stem: The fruit is overripe and may have a bitter taste or mushy texture.

By checking under the stem rather than pressing the avocado, you can avoid bruising and enjoy the fruit at its best.
